Voice over: What does Supporting People mean to you?Voice over: Peter had problems with his knees and retired early after 40 years at work. Supporting People is helping him to retain his independence within a sheltered housing scheme.
Peter: I couldn’t look after myself, so I come here. I lost my mum and I was going down-hill and my sister Anne that’s on the photograph there, on the telly, I was like a ship, she brought me back up again. She put me back on the rails again. I have carers, I have Elsa coming tomorrow, she is my carer Elsa; she’s done my washing today. Tomorrow I go to Canal Street, tomorrow morning and come back tomorrow afternoon, and then Sunday I went to the Lightfoot Lodge and then Monday I just I’m around here, like, Monday. I enjoy living here, every minute. Every minute of every day. I go shopping Thursday; well I will be this week. The neighbour next door is very nice, like we are all a happy family.
